Certified Phlebotomy Course

Service Description

This program covers the essentials of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. Students learn about OSHA regulations, HIPAA standards, safety issues, and the protocols that all phlebotomists must follow. Students are taught a variety of blood collection procedures, including heel sticks, finger sticks, skin punctures, capillary draws, cultures, and fluid collection. Students are taught about infection prevention and contagion. In addition, they learn about quality specimen practices. Students are required to perform 30 venipuncture and 10 dermal punctures. Students will receive a National Phlebotomy certification after passing the national certification exam.
